Nothing more enjoyable than a glass of wine + fish&chips + watching the sunset. Extensive walking on the beach, in the forest, around the gannet colony (top of the hill); swimming, surfing, fishing; plus an all-weather golf course. Just 21muinutes from us.o
Take a 30 minute drive thru Kumeu to Bethels Beach ! Cafe open till 4, take a surf lesson or walk the beach or around the rocks to the Gannet Colony !!
If you enjoy surfing, be sure to check out Muriwai, or Maori Bay (just over the point). Being on the west coast, it is beautiful, but the beaches are a little more rugged so be careful when swimming. There are life guard patrolled areas so if you're swimming make sure its between the flags.
Muriwai Beach is a beautiful, windswept beach on Auckland’s wild west coast. Don’t miss the impressive sight of the huge gannet colonies nestled on the rugged coastline, where around 1200 pairs of gannets nest from August to March.
